This work considers Black boys as sites of becoming rather than symbols of threat. It asks what it means to protect softness without denying strength, to dream of wings while standing firmly on the ground. In Moonlight Black Boys Blue is a meditation on tenderness as resistance—and on the quiet, radical act of imagining Black boyhood in flight.
The palette surface—stained, weathered, and luminous—functions like a night sky that remembers. Moonlight does not erase danger; it reveals paths.
