Installation Statement:
"To Dream In Shades of Sapphire" is an immersive installation that pays homage to Miami's Tropical lush canvas and Art Deco motifs while bringing awareness to the city's pressing issue of climate change, seawater rise, and community displacement.
The Seas are projected to rise in Miami-Dade County by more than 15 inches in the next 30 years, increasing flood risk further inland and with greater frequency. The encroaching seas threaten communities and the resources they rely on, including roads, drinking water, and sewer lines.
Visitors are invited to experience a moment of contemplation in leisure within this thoughtful installation. Beneath a canopy of blue palm trees, fluid patterns, and illuminated silhouettes, visitors will enjoy a layered experience as they navigate the inverted coconut palm grove. The entire stage is set within a blue gradient background representing serenity; it's modern, dynamic, and fluid as the Circoq brand. Upside down palm trees hang from the ceiling, a mural with palm shadows in the water with floating flora reflect Miami's ecological landscape and the flavored coconut drink with an edible flower garnish. Two silhouettes with floral stenciled backgrounds emerge from behind a transparent water pattern. Accents of pink throughout the space highlight architectural features that draw visitors to engage with the signature cocktail.
