In The Weight of Water, a cobalt-blue vessel sits before an ornate metal gate, bringing together ideas of migration, memory, protection, and belonging.

Blue evokes the waters connecting Haiti, the Caribbean, and Miami—a space of movement, separation, resistance, and remembrance. Flora and fauna become symbols of adaptation and ecological memory, while the fencing shifts between ornament and barrier: a threshold that can protect, contain, welcome, or keep out.

Together, these elements reflect on what we carry across borders and generations, and what remains rooted within us as landscapes change.
